6 Days Samburu & Laikipia Wilderness Safari – Wildlife & Luxury Adventure
Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi – Transfer to Samburu
Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met by your safari guide and transferred to Samburu National Reserve either via a domestic flight or a scenic road transfer. Samburu is located in northern Kenya and is renowned for its rare wildlife species, including the Samburu Special Five: Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, gerenuk, and Beisa oryx.
After arrival, check in at your luxury safari lodge or tented camp overlooking the Ewaso Ng’iro River. Enjoy a welcome lunch and spend the afternoon relaxing while taking in the spectacular views. In the late afternoon, embark on your first game drive, spotting wildlife along the riverbanks, before returning to the lodge for dinner under the African sky.
Day 2: Full-Day Game Drives in Samburu National Reserve
Wake up early for a morning game drive, the best time to spot predators like lions, leopards, and cheetahs. Your guide will navigate the arid savannahs, rocky outcrops, and riverine forests to maximize wildlife sightings.
After a picnic lunch in the bush, continue exploring Samburu’s rich landscapes in the afternoon. You can visit a Samburu village to experience the local culture, learn about their traditions, and see traditional jewelry and beadwork. Return to your lodge for sundowner drinks and a relaxing dinner.
Day 3: Morning Game Drive – Transfer to Laikipia
Enjoy a final morning game drive in Samburu after breakfast, where you may spot elephants, buffaloes, and baboons, as well as elusive wildlife such as wild dogs.
Afterward, transfer to Laikipia Plateau, either by domestic flight or road. Laikipia is famous for its rolling plains, conservancies, and abundant wildlife, including rhinos, elephants, and big cats. Check in at your luxury lodge or tented camp and enjoy lunch with panoramic views. The afternoon is free for relaxation, birdwatching, or a nature walk. Dinner will be served at the lodge.
Day 4: Game Drives and Wildlife Tracking in Laikipia
After breakfast, spend a full day on game drives across Laikipia’s conservancies. The area is renowned for intimate wildlife encounters and diverse landscapes. Track lions, leopards, elephants, and large herds of buffalo and giraffes.
You can also visit a rhino sanctuary and learn about conservation efforts for endangered species. Enjoy a bush lunch in the wilderness and continue exploring the reserve in the afternoon. Return to the lodge for sundowner drinks and dinner.
Day 5: Optional Activities & Sundowner Safari
Start the day with an optional activity, such as a hot air balloon ride, walking safari, or camel trek through Laikipia’s savannah. Alternatively, enjoy a leisurely morning at the lodge.
In the afternoon, embark on your final game drive, ending with sundowner drinks in the bush while watching the sun set over the savannah. Enjoy a farewell dinner at the lodge, celebrating your safari experience.
Day 6: Departure – Transfer to Nairobi
After breakfast, enjoy a short morning game drive or nature walk if time allows. You will then be transferred to Nanyuki Airstrip or driven back to Nairobi, arriving in time for your departure flight or overnight stay in Nairobi.
