10-Day Best of Kenya & Tanzania Big Five Safari
Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi
The safari begins with arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi. Guests are met and transferred to their hotel for rest and relaxation. Depending on arrival time, there may be an optional city tour to explore Nairobi’s cultural sites, markets, and local cuisine. Dinner and overnight are at the hotel in Nairobi.
Day 2: Nairobi – Amboseli National Park
After breakfast, guests drive to Amboseli National Park, famous for its large elephant herds and spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro. Arrival is in time for lunch at a lodge, followed by an afternoon game drive. Guests have the opportunity to photograph elephants, lions, zebras, giraffes, and a variety of bird species. Dinner and overnight are at the lodge or camp.
Day 3: Amboseli – Lake Naivasha
Following breakfast, guests depart Amboseli for Lake Naivasha, a freshwater lake in the Great Rift Valley. En route, guests enjoy scenic landscapes and rural villages. Arrival is in time for lunch, followed by an optional boat ride to see hippos, Nile crocodiles, and birds, or a visit to Crescent Island for a walking safari. Dinner and overnight are at the lodge near Lake Naivasha.
Day 4: Lake Naivasha – Maasai Mara National Reserve
After breakfast, guests drive to the Maasai Mara National Reserve, one of Africa’s most famous wildlife destinations. Arrival is in time for lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive to spot lions, elephants, cheetahs, and large herds of wildebeest and zebras. Dinner and overnight are at a lodge or tented camp in the Mara.
Day 5: Full Day Game Drives in Maasai Mara
Guests enjoy morning and afternoon game drives in the Maasai Mara, with picnic lunch in the bush. The day is spent tracking the Big Five and other wildlife, capturing the iconic African savannah landscapes in photographs. Dinner and overnight are at the lodge or camp.
Day 6: Maasai Mara – Isebania Border – Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, guests drive to the Isebania border to cross into Tanzania, continuing to Serengeti National Park. Arrival is in time for lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive. Guests experience the Serengeti’s vast plains and abundant wildlife, including lions, leopards, elephants, and wildebeest. Dinner and overnight are at a lodge or camp in Serengeti.
Day 7: Full Day Game Drives in Serengeti
Guests enjoy a full day of game drives in Serengeti National Park. Morning and afternoon sessions allow ample time to witness the Great Migration herds (if in season) and predators in action. A picnic lunch is served in the bush. Dinner and overnight are at the lodge or camp.
Day 8: Serengeti – Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast, guests depart Serengeti and drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area, enjoying scenic views of the highlands along the way. Arrival is in time for lunch at a lodge near the crater. Guests can relax or take a short excursion to a viewpoint before dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 9: Ngorongoro Crater Game Drive – Lake Manyara
Following an early breakfast, guests descend into Ngorongoro Crater for a full-day game drive, spotting lions, elephants, rhinos, hippos, and buffaloes. A picnic lunch is served in the crater. In the afternoon, guests drive to Lake Manyara National Park for a late game drive along the lake shore, where flamingos and other wildlife abound. Dinner and overnight are at a lodge near Lake Manyara.
Day 10: Lake Manyara – Arusha / Nairobi / Departure
After breakfast, guests check out and begin the journey back to Arusha or Nairobi for airport drop-off. The drive offers scenic views of northern Tanzania and Kenya. Arrival at the airport in the afternoon marks the conclusion of the 10-day Best of Kenya & Tanzania Big Five Safari.
