8-Day Uganda Big Five & Gorilla Experience Safari
Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe – Kampala
Guests arrive at Entebbe International Airport and are transferred to their hotel in Kampala. The afternoon is at leisure to rest from travel, or guests may explore Kampala’s local markets, cultural sites, and cuisine. Dinner and overnight are at the hotel.
Day 2: Kampala – Murchison Falls National Park
After breakfast, guests drive to Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest park, known for its diverse wildlife and the spectacular Murchison Falls. Arrival is in time for lunch at the lodge or camp. In the afternoon, guests enjoy a game drive, spotting elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, lions, and antelopes. Dinner and overnight are at the lodge or camp.
Day 3: Murchison Falls – Boat Cruise & Game Drive
Guests begin with a morning game drive to view active wildlife, followed by a boat cruise along the Nile River to the base of Murchison Falls. Hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of birds are commonly seen. Lunch is at the lodge, with an optional afternoon game drive before returning for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Murchison Falls – Kibale National Park
After breakfast, guests drive to Kibale National Park, famous for its chimpanzees and primate diversity. Lunch is served en route, and arrival at the lodge is in the afternoon. Guests may enjoy a short nature walk to familiarize themselves with the forest surroundings. Dinner and overnight are at the lodge near Kibale.
Day 5: Chimpanzee Trekking & Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Following an early breakfast, guests embark on chimpanzee trekking in Kibale Forest. This immersive experience allows close encounters with wild chimpanzees and other primates such as colobus monkeys and baboons. After trekking, guests continue to Queen Elizabeth National Park for lunch, followed by a late afternoon game drive to spot elephants, lions, buffaloes, and tree-climbing lions. Dinner and overnight are at the lodge or camp.
Day 6: Queen Elizabeth – Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
After breakfast, guests enjoy a morning game drive or Kazinga Channel boat cruise to observe hippos, crocodiles, and birdlife. Lunch is served at the lodge before driving to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Along the way, travelers enjoy scenic landscapes, tea plantations, and rural villages. Dinner and overnight are at the lodge near Bwindi.
Day 7: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Guests have an early breakfast before heading to the park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking etiquette. The trek into the forest can last 2-6 hours depending on the gorilla family’s location. Guests enjoy an unforgettable close encounter with mountain gorillas, taking photos and observing their behaviors. A packed lunch is provided during the trek. Dinner and overnight are at the lodge.
Day 8: Bwindi – Entebbe / Departure
After breakfast, guests check out and drive back to Entebbe International Airport for departure, passing through scenic Ugandan landscapes and rural villages. Arrival at the airport in the afternoon marks the conclusion of the 8-day Uganda Big Five & Gorilla Experience Safari.
