Day 1: Arrival in Zanzibar – Stone Town
Step off the plane and right away, your guide meets you at the airport. They’ll whisk you off to your hotel in Stone Town, the heart of Zanzibar and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Once you’ve settled in, it’s time to hit the streets. You’ll set out on a walking tour that takes you through the winding alleys and past famous landmarks—the House of Wonders, the Old Fort, and the old Slave Market. As the sun dips toward the horizon, you’ll climb aboard a dhow and sail out for a sunset cruise on the Indian Ocean. Afterward, head back to the hotel and dig into a great dinner.
Day 2: Spice Tour & Beaches
Start the day with breakfast, then head out for a spice tour. Zanzibar’s earned its “Spice Island” nickname, and you’ll see why. At a local spice farm, you’ll see, smell, and taste cloves, vanilla, cinnamon, and more. Lunch is right at the farm, and the food bursts with local flavors, using the very spices you just discovered. Later, you’ll drive north to Nungwi or Kendwa Beach. The sand’s powdery white, the water’s impossibly clear, and you can just chill out or try snorkeling. As evening settles in, enjoy a seafood dinner at a beachside restaurant in Nungwi.
Day 3: Dolphins & Jozani Forest
After breakfast, you’re off to Kizimkazi for a dolphin tour. The dolphins here are wild and playful—you’ll get the chance to swim with them in their home waters. When you’re back on shore, enjoy a picnic lunch right on the beach. In the afternoon, wander into Jozani Forest, the island’s only national park. A local guide leads you along the forest paths, pointing out Zanzibar’s rare red colobus monkeys and all sorts of unique birds and plants.
Day 4: Prison Island & Free Time
After breakfast, hop on a boat bound for Prison Island, also called Changuu Island. Explore the old prison ruins and meet the giant tortoises in their sanctuary. You’ll hear the story of the island’s past as a prison for rebellious slaves. After walking around, grab a snorkel and check out the colorful marine life in the clear waters nearby. Lunch is back on Zanzibar at a breezy beachfront café. Then it’s your time—wander Stone Town’s markets, relax at your hotel, or just take in the island vibe.
Day 5: Departure
On your last day, take your time with breakfast. Maybe squeeze in some last-minute shopping in Stone Town or one final stroll by the sea. When it’s time, your guide will get you to the airport for your flight home.
